This was a supportive and practical course guiding parents through the development of the teenage brain and common adolescent mental health concerns. We explored how parent's own experiences of being a teenager, and a parent, may impact their relationship with their teens, and the different challenges young people may experience today.

10 session course, hosted by the British International School of Stavanger.
August to October 2015 – A series of events for The British International School of Stavanger (BISS) focusing on Adolescent Mental Health:
October 2nd – Talk on ‘Looking After Your Mental Health’ for the Middle Years Program students.
At the end of the talk I asked students to write some ideas of things they could do to look after their own mental health or to support a friend, and they stuck them on the staircase leading from the assembly hall. The students had some great ideas and I was really impressed with how thoughtful and engaged they were.
August 20th – Talk for parents of Middle Years Program (MYP) students on adolescent mental health.
Parents of students in the MYP were attending an Open House to meet the teachers and learn more about the school and Middle Years Program. I was invited as a guest speaker, to raise awareness about adolescent mental health.
August 13th – Workshop for MYP staff on Adolescent Mental Health.
On the first day of the new term I worked with the MYP teachers to focus on adolescent mental health and how they can support their students through these potentially tricky years. The staff are a dedicated and enthusiastic group and it was a pleasure to work with them and to hear about all the great things they already do at the school.
